Experts predict annual inflation in Ukraine at 10-10.5%

Inflation in Ukraine in 2011 could reach 10-10.5% if the calculation base does not change, according to analysts of the Sokrat investment group.
They said that today over 53.5% of the calculation base of inflation accounted for food products, and 11% for prices for utilities. "However, if the share of consumer goods is reduced in the index basket, the level of 9-9.5% could be reached," the experts believe.
A further increase in prices for utilities can increase the rate of inflation. This will bring its rate to the level expected by analysts at 10.5% in 2011, which is 1.6% higher than the government's expectations.
As reported, inflation again returned to the consumer market after two months of deflation. According to the State Statistics Service, consumer prices in September 2011 rose by 0.1% compared to August 2011. Compared to September 2011, prices grew by 5.9%.
According to the State Statistics Service, in the first nine months of this year, inflation was 4.2%.
The Ukrainian government predicts consumer inflation in 2011 at 8.9% (December to December).
