The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov has charged the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Minister of Economic Development and Trade and Minister of Finance to make the proposals to the Government on long-term food strategy of the state. He has stated this while opening the session of the Government.

"On the one hand, there is an objective global trend to increase in the price of food. On the other - the cyclic regularity of supply and demand, a price fluctuation on grain and the cyclical of abundant and poor harvest years. All this is well known, and all this must be taken into account in strategy," Mykola Azarov has noted.

He has added that the strategy main goal consists in that Ukraine became the stable manufacturer of the foodstuffs for the domestic and external markets. «In particular, it is necessary to fundamentally solve the issue of establishing such facilities storing of the foodstuffs which is guaranteed compensate the cyclical nature of agricultural production," the Prime Minister has underlined and has given an example of solving such problem: "During the current year we have begun the country's large-scale construction of vegetable storehouses and the wholesale markets. Although this is only the beginning of a great program, but for the first time for years of independence in Ukraine, it is constructed warehouses for 300 thousand tons of goods. And already now it is confidently possible to say that seasonal deficits do not threaten us. It is under condition of normal work of agricultural manufacturers."
