Belarus raises about Br380bn in investments into logistics centers projects

Belarus raised about Br380 billion in investments for the construction of logistics centers, Deputy Economy Minister Andrei Tur said at the Fifth Day of the German Economy in Belarus.
Under the logistics system development program for the period until 2015, Belarus has identified about 50 sites for the construction of logistic centers. Forty-one centers are currently under construction. Twenty-five of them are part of the program. Sixteen are additional projects implemented under investment contracts.
Most of them (22) are being built in Minsk Oblast as this region lies in the intersection of two transport corridors. Seven projects are in progress in Brest Oblast, 4 in Vitebsk, 2 in Gomel, 4 in Grodno, and 2 in Mogilev Oblast.
Beltamozhservice is in charge of seven logistics projects to the tune of more than $120.5 million. Two projects have already been completed in Brest and Minsk. “With these two centers in operation, we see that the period of repayment will be much shorter, not 8 years as we expected but something around 5 or 6 years,” Andrei Tur said.
