The end of the week also marks the end of the month as volatility in the stock markets has been high and investors had to constantly change their trading strategies, moving towards safe, low-risk, low income assets one day and higher-risk, higher return the other. On Thursday it has finally become clear that European lawmakers are strengthening the bailout fund for the financially strapped countries, which means higher expectations for Greece, the country which is on the verge of default by having funds to pay out country’s debt only until mid-October. Unemployment issues in U.S. have finally tuned down as the number of people seeking for unemployment benefits fell by 37 000. Company’s 3Q reports are due and
expectations are highest for Energy companies, showing 55% increase in earnings overall for the sector.

UAIndex fell by 1.21% as investors were shifting their funds towards companies in one of the four: Energy, Materials, Discretionaries and Industrials, those are expected to have the highest Annual Earnings Growth Rates. Ukrainian agrarian sector is still expanding as companies are seeking opportunities to raise funds and expand their activities over the last quarter of 2011. Land law is expected in October, which would allow official sale and purchase of land, providing clearer picture for the foreign community.
