The working meeting of the Chairman of State Customs Service, Igor Kaletnik with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Ukraine, John Tefft has taken place.

The Chairman of the Customs Service has noticed that is very satisfied with cooperation with the American diplomats and business circles. "We have recently very fruitful collaboration. Your recommendations are very important for our activity. We are committed to constructive solutions to any problem issues," Igor Kaletnik has told.

The Ambassador of the USA also has noted a close cooperation of customs officers with the American commercial companies."We get information from the American Chamber of Commerce that they have established excellent cooperation with the leadership of the State Customs Service of Ukraine," John Tefft has told.

The sides also have discussed issues that arise when importing goods from the United States, and have come to the agreement on the need of mutual informing for the purpose of their operational decisions.
Now the foreign trade between Ukraine and the U.S. during 2011 tends to growth. In January-August, 2011 there was a turnover growth in volumes by 54 %, and constitutes $ 2.4 billion. The volume of trade with the United States takes the 8th place.

Concerning to other directions of cooperation, the Customs Service has reported about the arrangement with the Ministry of Defence to conduct in October-November, 2011 an interdepartmental seminar for discussion of concrete measures which are necessary for performing by the ministries and the departments involved in carrying out of the international military exercises, for the purpose of creation of the system of the clear and coordinated actions between all sides (Ukrainian and foreign) so that such activities were conducted at a high level.

John Tefft also has visited the Monitoring Center of Customs Service which processes messages from subjects of foreign trade activities and citizens concerning problems which arise at them at crossing of a customs border of Ukraine or realization of customs registration of the goods and vehicles. Also employees of the Center can consult the subscribers needing in clarifications of substantive provisions of customs business or established norms and restrictions on moving of the goods.
