The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is holding talks on the sale of grain to Japan, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Vadym Kopylov has said.

He also noted that grain exports this year would be distributed among traditional consumers approximately in the same proportion as in the 2008-2009 marketing year.

In the 2008-2009 marketing season, Ukraine exported up to five million tons of grain to EU countries, two million tons to Egypt, nearly one million tons to Tunisia, two million tons to Iran, one million tons to Bangladesh, 1.5 million tons to Israel, 1.35 million tons to Korea, 1.13 million tons to the Philippines, and 2.6 million tons to Saudi Arabia.

Earlier, Ukrainian Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk said that grain exports from Ukraine in the 2011-2012 marketing year could reach 23 million tons. Ukraine introduced grain export duties on July 1, 2011.
