GDP revival slows down

Romania's second quarter gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 0.2 per cent in seasonally adjusted terms compared to the previous three months, the National Statistics Institute (INS) said today (Tues).
The increase was triggered by better results in industry and agriculture.
The GDP in the second quarter was up by 1.4 per cent compared to the same period a year ago, while in the first quarter, the increase was 1.7 per cent year on year.
Activity in industry increased by 4.9 per cent followed by agriculture, plus 3.4 per cent.
In commerce, service repairs and hotels sectors, the increase was only 0.9 per cent, while in finance activities and real estate, only 0.3 per cent were registered.
The construction sector was down by 1.9 per cent, while services were down by 5.5 per cent.
INS data also shows that the value of taxes collected by the state budget have increased by 3.1 per cent.
Imports of goods and services was up by 7.7 per cent, while exports increased by 6.3 per cent.
