As of September 2, 2011, grain crops and leguminous cultures of all categories have been thrashed on the acreage of 22.5 million ha, which is 4.2% less against the same date of the previous year, the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry informed citing operative data.

"As of the reporting data, 34.7 million tons of grain was thrashed, 17.4% up against the relevant data of the previous year. Crop capacity of grain cultures exceeds the previous year index by 5.6 centners/ha," the ministry report reads.

3.62 million ha of corn, 4.59 million ha of sunflower seeds and 1.13 million ha of soya, as well as 541,500 ha of sugar beet are to be harvested in 2011.

In addition, as of September 1, sowing of winter rape was carried out on 570,600 ha, which is 60% against a plan. Winter grain crops are sowed on 7,500 ha. Out of these, winter wheat is sown on 2,900 ha, rye - on 4,400 ha.

Preparation of soil under sowing of winter cultures was made on the acreage of 9,000 ha, which makes up 69% of the planned volume.
