Transnistria eager to join Customs Union, EurAsEC

Transnistria has announced its intent to join the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan and the EurAsEC as an observer, information agencies cite the statement of Transnistria President Igor Smirnov.
On 31 August Igor Smirnov said at the conference in Tiraspol, Transnistia’s capital, that he expressed the intent in a letter addressed to Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin.
Igor Smirnov stressed that Transnistria is building its system with a view to harmonize it with Russia’ legislation in all aspects of life. The country adheres to the same principles as Russia.
Transnistria is a self-declared republic that broke away from Moldova on 2 September 1990. It was part of the Soviet Union. Later Transnistria became an independent country.
Previously Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan announced their intent to join the Customs Union.
