Tajikistan invites Belarus to set up logistics centers

Tajikistan has suggested that Belarus take part in the construction of logistics centers on its territory, BelTA learnt from the foreign economic activity and transport logistics department of the Transport and Communications Ministry of Belarus.

Tajikistan is ready to consider various cooperation forms – from investing in construction and upgrade of logistics centers to setting up joint logistics facilities. “Tajikistan has put forward several proposals, including a project to construct a terminal complex on the Nizhny Panj and upgrade the EurAsEC international logistics center Vakhdat,” the specialists informed. Belarusian companies are considering participation in the development of logistics infrastructure in Tajikistan.

The ministry informed that Belarus is also working hard to attract investors to set up transport and logistics centers on its territory. A Belarusian delegation has left for Lithuania to study its expertise and hold talks with Lithuanian businessmen.

In line with Belarus’ logistics development program until 2015, some 50 sites were allocated to construct and set up logistics centers. The total investments into the projects are estimated at over Br3 trillion. As of 1 June, 25 investment projects to construct logistics centers were implemented as part of the program, another 15 projects were executed additionally, as part of investment agreements. Minsk Oblast is carrying out twelve projects envisaged by the program and ten additional projects. Overall, 41 investment projects to construct logistics centers are implemented in Belarus.
