The business community of Belarus has suggested ramping up antimonopoly efforts, Chairman of the Belarusian Research and Industry Association (BRIA) Alexander Shvets said at the session of the National Business Community Council. The session discussed the competitiveness of Belarusian companies in the new economic environment shaped by the single economic space on 17 August, BelTA has learnt.

Antimonopoly regulation is crucial for enhancing the competitiveness of the Belarusian economy in the single economic space, Alexander Shvets underlined. In his words, “our partners in the single economic space have greatly advanced here, while we have neglected the issue”. The proposals of entrepreneurs were submitted to the government, the stakeholders have engaged in a constructive dialogue, the BRIA Chairman said.

He informed that entrepreneurs put forward their own proposals to normalize the currency relations and stabilize the situation on the domestic currency market. The National Bank replied that most of the measures are relevant and worth considering. In this connection, the BRIA head believes that it is not enough to respond to the challenges of time, it is important to be able to find a way to raise the competitiveness of the Belarusian economy in the single economic space.
