Foreign trade deficit reaches USD 1.8bn

A foreign trade deficit in Ukraine in H1/2011 made USD 1.8 billion after a surplus of USD 633.7 million over the same period in 2010, the State Statistics Service said in a statement.
The trade deficit with CIS countries increased by 4.2 times - up to USD 3,679.7 billion. With other countries the trade balance was positive - USD 1,878.6 billion, a 25.8% increase over January-June 2010. With the EU for the first half 2011 the trade deficit amounted to USD 1,832.4 billion (-15.1%).
The negative balance of foreign trade in Ukraine in the first half went up by 2.3 times to make USD 5.5 billion, while trade surplus in services increased by 23% - to USD 3.7 billion.
