Approximately 20 Russian companies have permanently frozen their activities regarding attracting capital due to highly unfavorable market conditions, caused by decreased rating of U.S. This trend is most likely to continue for several weeks or even months depending on the potential scenarios. Investors are not willing to search for new, higher-than-average-risk investment opportunities and rather prefer liquidizing their investments by selling stock or simply holding their portfolios, looking forward to the new increase. As for Ukrainian agrarian companies, that are components of UAIndex, it is clear that decline is far from being over. On August 9^th, 2011 only 2 out of 16 companies have shown slight improvement and 2 others did not show any changes whatsoever, others proceeded to fall. The situation remains “on hold”, with potential investors being very cautious about their actions.
