Romania's central bank on Monday downgraded its inflation estimate as the impact of sales tax hike fades.
Inflation is forecast to ease to 4.6 percent by the end of this year, down from 5.1 percent estimated in May. The inflation rate is seen at 3.5 percent at the end of 2012 compared to the prior estimate of 3.6 percent.
In June 2011, inflation slowed to 7.93 percent from 8.4 percent in May. The central bank has kept its rate at 6.25 percent since June 2010.
