Bulgaria's producer prices growth stalls in June

Bulgaria's producer prices slowed down their growth in June for a fifth month in a row, National Statistics Institute (NSI) data shows.
In annual terms, prices increased by nine per cent in June after rising by 9.2 per cent in May. In the previous three months, producer prices registered double-digit growth.
Prices went up 0.3 per cent month-on-month in the period against a 1.3 per cent drop in May.
Producer prices, as well as consumer prices, had been rapidly increasing in late 2010 and early 2011, prompting fears about mounting inflation. Since April, however, prices have started to grow at a slower pace, with consumer prices even recording a decline in June.
The most significant annual increase in producer prices was registered in the food industry, of 17.3 per cent, followed by basic materials with 9.5 per cent. At the same time, tobacco prices dropped 6.3 per cent, while prices of vehicles, excluding cars, fell 3.7 per cent.
Producer prices in the energy sector increased by 0.7 per cent year-on-year in June, while prices of food manufactures edged up 0.8 per cent.
