Ovostar increased the production of eggs by 15.5% and its recycling by 28% in the first half of 2011

"Ovostar Union", a vertically integrated agro-industrial holding company, one of the leading producers of eggs and egg products in Ukraine, in the first half of 2011 increased egg production by 15.5% over the same period last year up to 291 million units.
The increase was mainly due to decrease the average age of population, increase of operational efficiency and increase the number of hens as stated in the official news of the company. "Ovostar" makes it clear that in the first and second quarters of egg production totaled 143 million and 148 million units respectively.
The total number as of on June 30, 2011 was 2.46 million birds, including 1.92 million laying hens (up from 1.91 million in the first half of 2010). I was also stated that in the first half of 2011, sales of eggs rose by 38% compared to the first half of 2010 in bulk up to 230 million units.
The average selling price of eggs was 0.582 UAH (hereinafter - VAT not included), an increase of 5.2% compared to last year. In addition the company increased export of eggs by 2.4 times compared to the same period in 2010 - up to 54 million units due to growing external demand.
"Ovostar" also reports that in January-June 2011 holding proceeded 84 million eggs, 28% more compared with January-June 2010. In the first half of 2011 the company sold 658 tons of dry and 1668 tons of liquid egg products.
The average selling price of dried egg products amounted to 37.6 UAH per 1 kg, and liquid egg products amounted to 12,50 UAH per 1 kg, respectively, 2.2% less and 14.9% more than in the first half of 2010.
