The measures the government has taken so far ensure Romania's macroeconomic stability, there is no need for additional austerity measures, but economic recovery measures are being contemplated instead, vice chairman of the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL, major at rule) Sever Voinescu declared on Monday at the end of the meeting of PDL's Standing National Bureau; Voinescu also mentioned in this context the release, as of this August, of the Kogalniceanu card for SMEs.

"At this moment, Romania has reached macroeconomic stability and faces no problem in paying its liabilities, i.e. salaries, pensions, debt reimbursements. Romania has no problem in financing its deficit in this period... The rating agencies give Romania increasingly better grades, while other countries, powerful European Union economies, are now in situations never seen in the past 20-30 years, specifically they score lower in credit agencies' ratings.

In this context we assessed some of the economic relaunch measures the government has prepared or has underway in this period, because we are now in the situation where we are getting the economy restarted. In other words, in the current economic situation, we no longer need additional austerity measures and we can seriously think about economic recovery," said the PDL vice chairman.

Among the projects to be initiated by the government in the immediate future, Voinescu mentioned the Kogalniceanu card, which is intended to support SMEs by providing guarantees for bank loans.
