2011-07-19 13:07:44

In January-June 2011 companies of Belarusian Food Concern Belgospishcheprom ramped up the production of sugar by 11.5% over the same period last year to 358,600 tonnes, BelTA learned from Belgospishcheprom.

In H1 2011 the companies sold 430,900 tonnes of sugar, including 202,400 tonnes worth of exports. Belarusian companies export sugar to 12 countries. Top trading partners are Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, Moldova, and Georgia. Russia accounts for nearly a half of exports.

In H1 2011 sugar was mostly delivered to the Belarusian trade network in order to satisfy the local demand. Local sales of sugar went up 25.7% over the same period last year to the total of 143,100 tonnes.

According to the concern, there are enough sugar resources to fully satisfy the demand on the local market before the beginning of the harvesting season.
