The Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry does not rule out a change toward an increase of the yield in Ukraine. The basis for development of such a scenario is the fact that in Ukrainian southern regions the yield capacity is 3 centners/ha up on average against the previous year. Director of the department for development of agrarian markets of the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry Serhiy Kvasha has accentuated this fact at the International Analytical Grain Forum that has completed its work in Kyiv, UKRINFORM reports.

"Total production of grain crops in 2011/12 MY in Ukraine will make up 45.123 million tons. Total supply of grain is estimated at 52.497 million tons. Wheat production will reach 19.127 million tons, total supply of grain crops over the season 2011/12 is estimated at 23.747 million tons," the ministry representative forecasts.

According to him, the prime cost of wheat and barley in 2011 is UAH 1,283/ton. The world price for 3rd class wheat may reach UAH 2,128/ton by the year end. With the market price of UAH 1,765/ton.

According to the forecast of the Economic Development and Trade Ministry, Ukraine will gather 51 million tons of grain in 2012 against the expected 45.2 million tons this year. Specialists note that at the expense of an increase of the grain yield by 12.8%, a growth of plant growing production in 2012 is expected at 6.9%.
