Eurozone June Inflation Steady At 2.7%

Eurozone annual inflation stayed at 2.7 percent in June, unchanged compared to May, final data from Eurostat showed Thursday. The rate matched flash estimate.
Inflation has been staying above the central bank target of 'below, but close to 2 percent' since December 2010. To tackle high inflation in the 17-nation economy, the European Central Bank raised its key interest rates by a quarter point to 1.5 percent last week.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices remained flat in June as expected. Core inflation that excludes food, tobacco and energy prices, rose to 1.6 percent annually in June from 1.5 percent in May.
Inflation in the EU27 eased to 3.1 percent in June from 3.2 percent in May. A year ago, the rate was 1.9 percent. On a monthly basis, prices fell 0.1 percent.
