German June Inflation Confirmed At 2.4%

Germany's statistical office on Tuesday confirmed inflation figures for June. EU harmonized inflation remained steady at 2.4 percent in June.
Consumer price inflation remained above the two-percent threshold for the fifth consecutive month, the Federal Statistical Office said in its final report. Consumer price annual inflation came in at 2.3 percent, in line with the flash estimate published on June 28. The annual inflation rate had also been 2.3 percent in May.
The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices remained unchanged on a monthly basis in May as initially estimated. Consumer prices edged up 0.1 percent, after remaining flat in May.
To tackle high inflation in the 17-nation economy, the European Central Bank raised its key interest rates by a quarter point to 1.5 percent last week.
In June, euro area inflation remained stable in June at 2.7 percent. The figure has been staying above the central bank target of 'below, but close to 2 percent' since December 2010.
