Rosstat confirms 1Q GDP growth of 4.1%

The Federal Statistics Service confirmed Russia’s gross domestic product growth in January-March: the indicator matched the preliminary estimate and equaled 4.1%, the statistical authority said in a statement.
“In current prices Russia’s gross domestic product came to Rub 11.41 tln in January-March 2011. The adjusted index of its physical quantity vs. January-March 2010 equaled 104.1% and 84.8% compared to October-December 2010," the authority said in the statement.
The GDP deflator equaled 114.6% in January-March 2011 with regard to the prices in 1Q 2010, the press release points out.
Data earlier published by the Federal Statistics Service turned out to be slightly lower than the preliminary estimate by the Ministry for Economic Development (4.5%).
As deputy MED head Andrey Klepach said earlier, the ministry could lift its forecast for GDP growth from 4.2% to 4.5% in 2011.
