Eurozone June Flash Inflation Stays At 2.7%

Eurozone annual inflation unexpectedly remained at 2.7 percent in June, flash estimate released by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union said Thursday. Economists had expected it to accelerate to 2.8 percent from 2.7 percent in May.
The statistical office is slated to release final figures on July 14.
The European Central Bank aims to maintain inflation "below, but close to 2 percent." Inflation has been staying above the central bank target since December 2010.
In April, the central bank had lifted the rate by 25 basis points to 1.25 percent, which was the first rate increase in nearly three years.
