Economy dollarization level down

The level of dollarization of the economy in Ukraine in the third quarter of 2010 remained unchanged, although as a whole for January-September it fell by 2.1 percentage points to 29.6%, according to the website of the National Bank of Ukraine.
Estimate dollarization of the economy as of October 1, 2010 decreased to 29.6% compared to 31.7% at the beginning of the year. Whereas for the corresponding period last year, it increased from 30.62% as of 1 January 2009 to 32.26%, the report indicates.
According to NBU, gradual de-dollarization of the economy would be promoted by a faster growth of deposits in UAH in comparison with deposits in foreign currency.
As reported, the level of dollarization in Ukraine decreased in January-March 2010 by 0.3 percentage points to 31.4%, and in April-June by another 1.8 percentage points to 29.6%.
