WB: External conditions for Belarus are better than they were in 2009

External conditions for Belarus are more favorable this year than they were in 2009, World Bank Country Director for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova Martin Raiser told media on 24 June as he commented on his three-day visit to Belarus.
In his words, his visit to Belarus was a regular one and was focused on the economic situation in the country. During the meetings with the senior government officials of Belarus, the WB representative shared the results of the World Bank analysis of Belarus’ economic performance and its prospects.
“The analysis of the prospects for Belarus’ economic development has not changed,” Martin Raiser stated.
As regards current external conditions for Belarus, Martin Raiser said that in this context deeper structural reforms might bring new opportunities for the Belarusian economy.
“Belarus can deal with this task and will work more efficiently if the corresponding structural reforms are put in place,” the WB official said.
