Grain stocks estimated at 6.1 million tons

Ukrainian agribusinesses (not including small farms) and grain storage and processing enterprises had 6.1 million tons of grain as of June 1, 2011, which was 1% more than on the same date in 2010, the State Statistics Service has reported.
According to the service, agribusinesses and grain storage and processing enterprises had 3.2 million tons of wheat, 800,000 tons of barley, 1.7 million tons of maize and 200,000 tons of rye.
Sunflower seed stocks totaled 1.3 million tons as of June 1, 2011, which was 14% less than on the same date last year.
In 2010, all categories of agribusinesses in Ukraine received 39.2 million tons of grain in weight after threshing. Compared to 2009, grain production shrank by 14.8%.
The domestic consumption of grain in Ukraine is estimated at about 26 million tons a year.
