This country’s oil, gas and electricity companies are to invest 8 and a half trillion roubles in expansion and modernization programmes. This year and next, their expenditure on new technology and R&D alone will be five times greater than in the three years before.
The announcement is from Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko. Speaking at a Moscow conference Monday, he also emphasized the role of the energy industry as a driving force for the manufacturing sector.
