Germany's inflation slowed in May as estimated, final data from the Federal Statistical Office showed Friday.

EU harmonized annual inflation slowed to 2.4 percent from 2.7 percent in April. Month-on-month, the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) fell 0.2 percent. The statistical office confirmed the preliminary estimate published on May 27.

The consumer price index for Germany rose 2.3 percent annually in May, down slightly from 2.4 percent in April. But it remained above the two-percent threshold. Compared with April, consumer prices remained flat in May. Both monthly and annual rates matched initial estimate.
