Inflation in Belarus at 25.4% in January-May

Inflation stood at 25.4% in Belarus in January-May 2011, BelTA learned from the National Statistics Committee.
In May 2011 consumer price index amounted to 113.1% in comparison with April.
In May manufacturers of industrial products raised prices by 9%, with prices for investment goods 10.3% up, intermediate goods 9% up, consumer goods 9% up.
In May 2011 food price index amounted to 113.1% in comparison with April 2011 and 125.9% in comparison with December 2010. In May non-food prices went up 20.4%, up 31.7% since the beginning of the year.
In May 2011 the index of prices for chargeable services reached 103% in comparison with April 2011 and 115.1% in comparison with December 2010.
BelTA reported earlier that the Belarusian Economy Ministry expects this year’s inflation to reach 33-39%.
At the government session held on 8 June to discuss topical economy matters President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko instructed the government to prevent price surges.
