In Ukraine, in the first quarter 2011, imports of fruits and vegetables decreased 2 times, while exports grew 1.5 times, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysiazhniuk told reporters.
"It means that demand for our vegetables and fruits is large enough not only domestically but also abroad. Our task is to use this situation to increase the volume, despite the climatic conditions," Prysiazhniuk said.
He added that, despite the fact that in May a forecast for fruits and vegetables harvest was high enough, they need to be adjusted.
