India's Food Inflation Eases

India's food price inflation slowed during the week ended May 21, data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry revealed Thursday.
The food price index climbed 8.06 percent year-on-year, down from 8.55 percent growth seen during the week ended May 14. Within the food article index, price increases in cereals, rice, fruits and egg, meat and fish slowed. At the same time, prices of wheat and pulses declined on a yearly basis.
Meanwhile, fuel and power prices advanced at a faster pace of 12.54 percent, after rising 12.11 percent in the previous week.
