The Government and National Bank of Belarus have asked the International Monetary Fund for a loan. This comes in a statement that the Belarusian Government has posted on its official website.
Another loan to Belarus is also due to be considered during a meeting of the EurAsEC anti-crisis fund council in Kiev on June 4th.
1.24 billion dollars of a 3 billion dollars are due to be allocated to Minsk this year. Belarus needs loans to cope with the crisis, triggered by the devaluation of the national currency and price growth.
