Ukraine exports agricultural products at USD 900 million in Q 1

Export of products made by enterprises of the Ukrainian agroindustrial complex in Q 1 against the same period of 2010 grew in money terms by 41%, the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry press service informs.
Over 2011/12 MY, Ukraine, according to the ministry, plans to export 19-20 million of grain crops, in particular, wheat - 8-9 million tons, corn - 4 million tons and barley - 5-6 million tons.
"In our opinion, we have real possibility to strengthen our leading positions, since we are planning over next five years to reach 80 million tons of grain production and over 30 million tons of its export," Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk said.
According to him, the government should attentively control a package of issues on the grain market, in particular, influence of price fluctuations on the rapid inflation growth, since in the Ukrainian consumer basket food products made up 60% as distinct from developed countries of the world.
Prysiazhniuk also reminded that the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry will request the government to abolish quotas for grain crops, as it occurred with corn. Restrictions for grain export, according to him, have fulfilled their task.
