Ukraine will export about 20 million tons of grain crops in 2011-2012 MY- experts

Ukraine will export about 20 million tons of grain crops in 2011-2012 marketing year, this forecast was aired by President of the Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) Volodymyr Klymenko.

"We should be ready that Ukraine should export about 20 million tons, it is necessary to immediately check what is the state of the railway car park, where our wagons are," he said adding that the yield forecast fluctuates within 43-48 million tons.

"Any restrictions (for export) should be immediately lifted since in three weeks the yield from Odesa region will come (Ukraine's south)... And the new yield will put pressure on the prices," the UGA President explains.

According to Klymenko, commodity producers will suffer from the excess of grain and insufficient capacities for its storage.

Earlier, Director of the Department for Development of the Agrarian Market at the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry Anatoliy Rozgon informed that Ukraine will export about 19-20 million tons of grain crops in 2011-2012 MY. He specified that wheat will make up traditionally 8-9 million tons, corn - 4 million tons and barley - 5-6 million tons. The yield 2011, according to the ministry, will make up from 42 million tons to 45 million tons.

On May 19, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the government's amendments to the Tax Code about introduction of duties for grain export. According to amendments, 9-14% duty has been introduced for gain export till 2012.

On March 30, the Cabinet has prolonged operation of quotas for grain export till July 1. Quotas have been introduced on October 4, 2010, for export of wheat and the mixture of wheat and rye (meslin), einkorn - to the amount of 0.5 million tons, corn - 2 million tons, barley - 0.2 million tons, rye - 1,000 tons and buckwheat - 1,000 tons.
