Argentina has recognized Russia as a market economy. The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Argentine counterpart Hector Timerman signed a document to that end in Moscow today.

Lavrov said during an official ceremony that this would help boost the two countries’ trade, economic and investment cooperation. He also said that he saw information technology- and space-related projects as those of special importance.

Timerman supported Russia’s striving for joining the World Trade Organization.
