Parliament does not allow international financial institutions to lend to Ukraine in hryvnia

The Verkhovna Rada refused to support changes allowing international financial institutions to issue in Ukraine bonds denominated in the hryvnia thus lending to local businesses, municipal and infrastructure projects.
Only 215 votes of the 226 needed were cast for adoption of the bill dated October 18, 2010 on amendments to the law on securities and stock market (bond issues by international financial institutions).
