The inflow of foreign direct investments into Poland may rise this year by around 10% to around EUR 10bn, head of the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ) Slawomir Majman has told the ISB newswires.

Currently, the agency's investment portfolio consists of 161 foreign investments compared to 80 projects two years ago, which is a proof of the situation's improvement, he argued. In February, Majman estimated the 2010 FDI inflows at around EUR 10bn and expected a rise to EUR 11bn this year.

However, according to the data of the National Bank of Poland (NBP), the 2010 inflow was EUR 7.5bn vs. EUR 8.4bn a year earlier.

Meanwhile, the central bank reported that the FDI balance amounted to EUR 1458mn in March, 2011 , vs. (revised) EUR 1,129mn a month earlier, and vs. EUR 1,280mn a year earlier.

In the last 12 months (Apr, 2010 - Mar, 2011), FDI inflow was EUR 7,968mn vs. EUR 11,276mn a year before. In March, 2011, the balance of foreign portfolio investments was positive and amounted to EUR 1,785mn.
