GDP of Asia-Pacific countries, including RF, to grow 7% in 2011

Gross domestic product (GDP) is to increase in Asia-Pacific countries, including Russia, in 2011 by 7.3 percent. Such a forecast was given by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific Ocean on Thursday.
According to these estimates, the GDP growth of the most dynamically developing region of the planet will somewhat slow down in comparison with 8.8 percent of 2010. This, in particular, will happen under the influence of the calamities in Japan which disturbed many production chains.
However, as a whole, the UN commission believes that the influence of these calamities will be restricted and temporary. It will lead, according to estimates, to a GDP drop of the region by only 0.1 percent. The commission considers the rise of prices of oil and foodstuffs to be more weighty negative factors.
China and India remain to be the main locomotives of economic development in the Asia-Pacific region. Their GDP in the current year, as the UN commission believes, will increase by 9.5 and 8.7 percent accordingly.
