Expert says grain prices to decline 15% as of early season

Prices for cereals at the beginning of the new marketing year [for cereals - July 1] may be reduced by 10-15%. This opinion was expressed by Director General of the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine (SFGCU) Oleksandr Lavrynchuk.
"The practice of the grain market indicates that prices for cereals at the beginning of the marketing year are somewhat decreasing," Lavrynchuk said. In addition, he said, given the world market trends, we can predict a decrease in grain prices of the new crop by 10-15% at the beginning of the season.
However, he did not rule out the lowering effect on the price of the crop 2011, which experts estimate will exceed the gross yield 2010 by 5-10%.
At the same time, the SFGCU will purchase grain from farmers at prices that will ensure the profitability of cereals growing in the range of 20-30%, Lavrynchuk added.
