The World Food Programme plans to enlarge agricultural assistance in Uganda

The United Nations World Food Programme said in a statement that this rescue plan valued 23 million dollars are for the purpose of helping the farmers in this area engaged in multiplex production. They can develop the cultivation of water conservancy, irrigation construction and a variety of crops, vegetables and fruits. It improves own survivability and resist the threat of deficient grain.

In recent years, the United Nations World Food Programme started the cooperation with the Office of Prime Minister in Uganda, the Local government, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization as well as some other institutions. They help the local farmers the way of cash and food subsidies. They encourage the local farmers improve agricultural production capacity through the multiplex development. In 2010, they support to plant 200 acres including cassava, beans, sorghum, 165 acres woods, orchards and vegetable gardens in the Karamoja region. And they also have constructed 57 simple agricultural facilities.
