Economic Development Ministry expects GDP growth of 6% in 2012

Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Anatoliy Maksiuta predicts an increase in GDP growth to 6% in 2012. He stated this at a seminar for journalists of the regional media.
"Last year we had GDP of 4.2%, and this year we are planning GDP of 4.5%, and we are still discussing this, but we predict that GDP will be greater than 6% (in 2012). But this is not enough to achieve the goals that we face," the deputy minister noted.
He also stressed that, for Ukraine to be in the next few years among 20 countries with the highest level of economic development, it is necessary to provide an annual GDP growth of 10% as a minimum.
The Ministry of Finance provides for 2012 a real GDP growth of 6.5% or in nominal terms 1,475.5 billion UAH (1 USD - 7.97 UAH). This is stated in the project the Ministry of Finance regarding the basic directions of budgetary policy for 2012, published on the website of the ministry.
