Ukraine needs USD 53.2 billion in external financing in 2011, Executive Director at the Bleyzer Foundation Oleg Ustenko said at a roundtable meeting "Ukraine's Debt. Debt Policy. Risks."
He said that Ukraine required USD 48.4 billion as funding for the private sector, including USD 40 billion to repay the debt and USD 8.4 billion to make interest payments.
Ustenko said that Ukraine also needed USD 4.8 billion as investment in the public sector.
"Payments on Ukraine's debt are currently large enough," he said.
He noted that in 2011 Ukraine has to return USD 4.8 billion in debt, in 2012 - USD 5.8 billion, in 2013 - USD 8.4 billion, and in 2014 - USD 6.3 billion.
"A sharp increase in public debt has been reported since 2008, and in 2010 it amounted to 40% of the country's GDP," Ustenko said.
