EBRD to invest about $300 million in Ukrainian agriculture in 2011

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is planning to invest in the agricultural sector of Ukraine about $300 million in 2011, EBRD President Thomas Mirow told a press conference at Kyiv's office of the bank.
According to him, it is planned to invest in environmental, energy-efficiency and high-tech projects in agriculture.
As said by EBRD Director in Ukraine Andre Kuusvek, currently under consideration there are 10 such projects of the companies, with which the bank has not previously collaborated. The signing of the projects is expected within 8-12 months, he added.
The EBRD in mid-April approved a medium-term strategy of cooperation with Ukraine for the period until 2014, under which the bank intends to invest in Ukraine EUR1 billion per year.
