Ukraine's grain export potential in the next marketing year (July 2011 - June 2012) will be 22-23 million tons. This forecast during the Black Sea Grain-2011 conference was announced by UkrAgroConsult think tank CEO Serhiy Feofilov.

"The overall export potential of grain for Ukraine next year will be at a high level, of about 22-23 million tons, including wheat, barley and corn," he said.

The expert noted that the greatest increase will be observed in the export potential of wheat due to large stocks of this crop from the 2010 harvest.

According to Feofilov, the export potential of oilseeds will also increase. "There will be a slight increase in the export potential of sunflower and soybean," he said.

According to the Cabinet of Ministers' forecasts, the total demand for grain in the domestic market in MY 2010-2011 will amount to 26.2 million tons.

This year Ukraine takes the 3rd place (16.7% of the world market) in terms of barley exports, the 4th (6%) by the export of corn, and the 6th (5.4%) by wheat exports, despite enforced quotas for grain export. Every year the country receives income from the export of grain at $1.5-2 billion.

In the current marketing year (from July 1), as projected by the agricultural ministry, the country will export 12 million tons of grain.
