Japanese willing to pay higher taxes for economic repairs

Some 70% of the Japanese say there are prepared to pay higher taxes to have the national economy restored following the March 11th quake and tsunami.
About as many Japan’s citizens feel that the Cabinet acted inappropriately in doing away with the consequences of the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident. This follows from a public opinion survey, carried by today’s issue of Japan’s Nikkei business daily.
Up to 70% of those polled feel that Prime Minister Naoto Kan should tender his resignation. They claim that he failed to act as a national leader during the crisis caused by the elements.
