The Union of Dairy Enterprises claims that manufacturers are cutting prices of cheese by between 10% and 20%, Union board chairman Vadim Chaharovskyi has told a news conference.
"A reduction as such took place between ten percent and twenty percent, depending on the manufacturer," he said.
Chaharovskyi specified these to be the factory prices; he stressed in the retailing chains the price of this produce would go down in a fortnight.
"In the chains the reaction to the reduction [of wholesale factory] prices goes in approximately two weeks," he said.
There will be no subsequent price falls for hard cheese or butter, Chaharovskyi remarked.
What concerns the prices of whole-milk products, he predicts a 5-percent upward revision later this year.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine on November 5 compelled 11 milk-processing enterprises to bring down wholesale factory prices for milk, sour cream, butter and hard cheese in a phased approach.
In particular, the demand applies to: Milkiland Ukraine , Terra Food, Milk Alliance, Unimilk, Danone Ukraine , Wimm-Bill-Dann Ukraine , Cheese Club Corporation, Halychyna, the Shostka municipal dairy combine, Molis and Lactalis Mykolaiv.
