Consumer prices rise 3.3% in Q1/11

In the first quarter 2011, consumer price inflation amounted to 3.3%, which is lower than for the corresponding period in 2010 - 4.7% and for the Q1/2009 - 5.9%. In March, inflation rate was 1.4%, which generally corresponds to the forecasted level. This is stated in a report of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine on the price situation in the consumer market in Q1/2011.
The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade saw the growth in production of meat and, consequently, decline in prices of meat and meat products in the consumer market by 1.8% (after 0.2% growth over the same period in 2010).
According to officials, milk fell in price 2.5%, cheese - 1.4%, eggs - 15.9%, sugar (4.3% after 29.8% in Q1/2010).
