Beef, dairy cattle breeding is farmers' priority - Agrarian Policy Ministry

One of the priority issues for farmers is the development of beef and dairy cattle breeding. This was emphasized by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysiazhniuk at a meeting on the development of the agricultural sector.
Unfortunately, Prysiazhniuk said, over 20 years, there has been no year when the population of dairy and beef cattle would not decrease. The first quarter of 2011 also has such a tendency.
Prysiazhniuk reminded that the state this year provides for 2.8 billion UAH (1 USD - 7.96 UAH) to support meat and dairy industry.
"It's quite a lot of money, so we are now working with district experts on its effective use. Our goal for this year is to suspend the decline in dairy and beef herds, and to begin their build-up from next year," the minister said.
