«AgroInvest» — News — Ukraine. Ministry says no more export quotas after June 30

Ukraine. Ministry says no more export quotas after June 30

2011-04-07 17:33:16

The Minister of Agriculture Mr. Prysazhniuk said on April 5, that the government will not impose export quotas after June 30. He also said the same thing a few months ago saying they will not be extended after March 31. We will wait and see. However because of the export quota’s Ukraine will likely have grain carry over stocks of in excess of 6 million tons. Moving this grain freely after June 30 will not alleviate congestion in country elevators as even with free and unrestricted movement the country will not be able to export more than 2,5 million tons a month. Further as all this grain, some of dubious quality because of poor storage conditions, hits global markets it will have a negative impact on global and therefore domestic prices. Farms of all sizes, including Agro Holdings will continue to lose revenues.
