Azarov Says Inflation Rate Declined To 0.4% - 0.5% In October

Prime Minister Mykola Azarov says that the inflation rate declined to about 0.4% or 0.5% in October, the Cabinet of Ministers press service has announced.

At a meeting with representatives of the International Monetary Fund Azarov has said that the inflation index did not exceed 0.4% or 0.5% in October and that it will not step over 10% at the yearend.

The government was a bit troubled with the inflation pace elevated in September, the prime minister noted hereto, a reason for this cited not monetary or expenditure factors but price surge on the market.

Azarov has stressed, at the moment the government faces a task of sustaining positive trends of the economy development.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, consumer prices grew by 2.9% in September 2010 in Ukraine .

From January to September the inflation place made 7.4%.

The Economy Ministry predicted inflation index of 1.5% or 1.6% for October.

The Cabinet of Ministers expects inflation to stay within 13.1% in 2010.

Ukraine saw inflation of 12.3% in 2009 and 22.3% in 2008.

President Viktor Yanukovych in October ordered Prime Minister Mykola Azarov to analyse through the current situation on the consumer market and before November 1 to draw up a plan of urgent measures to curb inflation in the country.
